Overcoming Challenges in the Peerplays Legacy Codebase
As we work on verifying the Bitcoin Sidechain functionality in the Peerplays Legacy Codebase, we’ve encountered some unexpected challenges. We’re in the process of syncing our libbitcoin server with the Bitcoin mainnet, which has taken longer than anticipated due to an unfortunate corruption of the libbitcoin database. As a result, we’re now re-downloading and re-syncing the entire copy, which is a time-consuming process involving a 1 TB file. In the meantime, we’re also running test cases across the codebase to ensure there are no breakages.
Advancements in Peerplays 2.0 R&D
Our team is hard at work upgrading the core Substrate version to v0.9.39 in Peerplays 2.0. The upgrade is a complex process due to the numerous changes involved, but we’re making progress. We’re also focusing on increasing our test coverages, executing test cases as part of our build process in Gitlab, and introducing new test cases for the code we’ve written. On the DApp front, we’re deploying smart contracts and addressing bugs to ensure a smooth user experience.
Enhancements to NEX
We’re excited to announce the completion of Ethereum SONs‘ support in NEX, as well as the readiness of new voting screens. Our team is currently verifying these features and working on automating the process using a new tool. We’ve also made necessary changes to the Peerplays JS library and published a new version in preparation for the next mainnet release and hard fork. The addition of Ethereum SONs support means users will soon be able to deposit and withdraw Ethereum with ease.
Kickstarting Together.app Development
We’ve begun the initial project planning for Together.app, including resource allocation and seeking external assistance for UI design. We’re looking to collaborate with a reliable Usability Design agency to create the UI screens for the app, ensuring a seamless and visually appealing user experience.
