We have been working on an Alpha Release of the Peerplays blockchain for the past month. The release has been completed. In this blog post, we will provide a summary of the main features of the Alpha Release. We will also discuss relevant updates regarding NEX, Peerplays JS and Python Library.
Introducing the Alpha Release
The Peerplays Alpha Release is a major milestone for us, as it includes a number of significant new features. We have been working hard to complete the development of Ethereum SONs. And this technology is now being released for formal QA. Additionally, we have introduced a new feature that allows Node Operators to be voted for based on their performance across a given network. This feature provides more freedom of choice for both end users and operators and is a critical achievement for us.
The Challenges of Developing the Alpha Release
Developing the Alpha Release was a challenging process, as it involved a number of complex technologies. In addition to introducing support for a new sidechain (Eth SONs), we were also re-writing the existing architecture of the sidechain support itself. This was a significant undertaking, and we are proud to have accomplished this feat seamlessly.
Another challenge that we faced was working with multiple technologies simultaneously. We have developers who are constantly keeping up with Hive, Bitcoin, Ethereum, and numerous other supporting libraries.
Next Development Steps
Whenever we do a release, that means we are in the stages of performing integrated QA. The next step is to enhance the User Interface for all of the features included in the Alpha Release. We are also planning to create a new User Interface for Voting. This will make it easier for users to participate in the network. QA is already ongoing, and the supporting development is also underway. This page showcases the progress and highlights the details of the ongoing activities and timelines.

Python Library Updates
We have released a new Python library, which is available on PyPi. This release supports all of the current features, including SONs & NFTs. We are performing integ whether this Python library will work against this blockchain release or not. Similarly we have a software called Faucet, which we are also verifying against the alpha release. We have libraries in various languages like JavaScript and Python to connect to in order to update the blockchain. We had not released a new version of the Python library for some time, and we addressed accumulated bugs with this release. Over the last year, we have introduced plenty of new features like SONs and NFTs and have completed a lot of verification and testing to ensure the library is up to date. This library is now available at this page.
Summing it up
In conclusion, the Peerplays Alpha Release is a significant milestone for us, as it includes a number of new features and improvements to the existing technology. We faced many challenges during the development process, but we are proud of the seamless way in which we have addressed them. Our next steps are focused on enhancing the User Interface and making it easier for users to participate in the network. With the latest version of NEX and Python Library Updates, we will continue pushing for further advancements
